Rugs
As these products usually sit on the floor, using suitable furniture and props is important to create a mood. Rugs can be heavy and dusty so it's good to have any extra pair of hands to transport and prepare for the shoot.
Preparing
Rugs attract dust like no other product, so ensure your rugs are as clean as possible in advance and bring tape/lint rollers to do extra cleaning at studio. If you plan to hang your rugs a wooden pole and velcro or clips can be attached in advance - we have a 6ft picture rail on main studio wall.
Styling and shots
Think about contrasting surface/backgrounds and suitable flowers/foliage/herbs.
Showing these types of products 'in use' is all about creating at atmosphere, the mood of the lighting is very important; it might be bright and fresh, or moody and calming. Using the right pieces of furniture is very important, the chairs/tables should not distract from the rugs of course but complement. You need to keep focused on the rug, not too many props. Rugs can be shot eye level, directly overhead or hanging on wall.
