Lighting

Lighting can be subtle in creating a mood in a room, but it's challenging to capture this in still image. The use of suitable backgrounds and surfaces to create contrast is very important.

Preparing

Think about how your products look lit and unlit and if you want to show both. Check for marks and scratches on the bulbs and other surfaces - especially the reflective surfaces - these can be difficult to remove in post production.

Styling and shots

Think about contrasting surface/backgrounds and suitable props like furniture, books and decorative objects.

Showing these types of products 'in use' is all about creating at atmosphere, the mood of the lighting is very important; it might be bright and fresh, or moody and calming. Sometimes the light itself provides the lighitng but often we will 'light the light' with studio lighting to enhance certain features.
