Studio units from Objective Furniture

Yeshen says: “I literally can’t imagine life without this unit, it’s such a pleasure to shoot in the space now knowing that all my kit is secure and accessible. The build quality is outstanding, rock solid - we love the spray coating colour too!”

The top of both units feature a food-safe, durable, wipe clean laminate and both sit on wheels so can be shifted around for cleaning and using in shoots (the kichen unit has already featured on shots for Penguin Books and The Natural History Museum - see images below).

For many years we have wanted to commission a furniture maker to create some custom storage units for the studio. Off the shelf storage is fine but nothing beats something designed perfectly for it’s place and purpose!

So we were delighted to be introduced to Russell and Ellie from Objective Furniture, iniitally through their work for our old friend Jo Ham. We asked them to make one larger unit for our kitchen with doors on both sides and deep interior shelves for storing our ever-growing prop collection. This features two huge, deep drawers for all our dry food in top section plus linens, iron, steamer and other textiles below. This unit is finished in a very fetching green colour.

For the studio, Yeshen had long wanted a unit for his laptop and photography gear. This was designed to be compact, yet full of storage with a deep section for charging batteries, accessing lenses and other kit plus two big drawers for light stands, clamps and blocks. The side features two solid screw blocks so Yeshen can attach a mini light stand to hold his laptop. Dark blue for this one - it looks ace against the plant jungle at one end of our studio!
