I understand some of my clients can’t afford to book a shoot right now. I have been talking to many of you on the phone recently and appreciate times are tough. All of us in the craft and design industry are being forced to adapt to this new way of life.
So what can I do to help? I often give talks and workshops showing young designers how to better understand their DLSRs and camera phones. For example, I demonstrate how to shoot ‘tethered’ connected to your laptop and suggest tips for editing and post production.
Now I will be offering much more of this type of content via my website, Instagram and other online learning platforms. I’ll be showing my face more through video and bringing you behind the scenes at the our studio.
It’s crucial that makers and designers can continue to create and promote their work. Given the fact we have more free time, it’s a fantastic opportunity to refresh your website, photography and branding, so I will be fully updating my guide to Squarespace and my One Day Web service working alongside Lollipop Studio.
For those who are able to send me their work to shoot, I have created a special offer called Shoot by Post. The minimum booking is one hour, up to a full day. It can be for single product shots or a set of fully styled lifestyle images. I am still working with my stylists remotely, so they can create shoot plans and prep for the shoot with the client, sending props to the studio if required.
Let me know how you are changing the way you work in the comments below. What challanges are you facing? Where are you getting support from?
