FURNITURE

These are often the largest items we shoot and therefore require a different approach to tabletop products. We need more space in order to shoot furniture properly so it is worth looking at location houses and larger studios.

Preparing

A lint roller is useful to remove stray fibres. We have an ironing board and iron at the studio, however you can save a lot of time by ironing and checking zips, buttons and folds in advance.

If you sell textiles by the meter, please bring the full rolls so we can shoot them against a wall, rolled out on table or overhead flat and cropped in.

If we are shooting wall hangings we have a wide picture rail, but please attach velcro or other clips in advance. Lampshades are often tricky to hang straight, so check your flex/lamp stand in advance.

Create a shot list and include details you need to capture, i.e. swing tags or particular parts of the design .

Styling

Think about contrasting surface/backgrounds and suitable flowers/foliage.

Bringing your own items of furniture is highly recommended, could be antique or contemporary, we can help you select the right pieces.

A length of wooden dowel is very useful for scarves and blankets.
