Speaking at Somerset House with Squarespace

I recently ran 2 informal sessions for Squarespace as part of the Upgrade Yourself Festival at Somerset House in London. The day was really inspiring, lots of creative energy and positive vibes! After countless online workshops and webinars it was wonderful to be in a room with people once again not to mention meeting some of the UK Squarespace marketing team who were great to work with.

The event was aimed at young creatives aged 16-24 and my talks were titled “Building your online brand: An introduction to easily building your own Squarespace website, with creative and technical tips and tricks that will help you bring your idea you have to life. “

I was particularly pleased that the young people asked lots of questions - always a good sign. There were those keen on setting up simple portfolio sites and others looking for a full e-commerce solution.

On the day they also enjoyed talks from Montana Hall - Run The Check, Bola Sol – Merky Books, Camille Lesforis - The Black Wellbeing Collective and Habiba Katsha - HuffPost. Plus free headshots from Courtney Hugh Campbell and mentoring Montana Hall - Run The Check, Camille Leforis - The Black Wellbeing Collective, Jerrell Cumberbatch - Somerset House Community Manager (Exchange and Black Business Incubator), CHILD Studios, Jason Baron, Coders of Colour and GAS Brand Studio.

Upgrade Yourself Festival is part of our Upgrade Yourself programme, which addresses representation within the creative industry, giving young people the skills to accelerate their journeys in the sector.

There will be another weekend to enjoy in November, keep an eye on the Somerset House website for more details.
